Shroomify

Shroomify is the only mushroom identification too specific to Canada. As such, it represents an important tool for Canadians learning to identify mushrooms more safely. However, the app’s original design was holding it back, making a redesign and rebrand necessary.

What was the project?

Shroomify’s redesign needed to improve on multiple areas of the apps design, namely it’s limited features, an unfriendly UI, and an overall unattractive and unmemorable design. The new app would have to  maintain the same goal as the original app — to help Canadians identify native mushroom varieties.

What was my process?

I started by using the app to find out more about its features and issues. I developed personas to better understand the app's audience and address their needs, then remapped the flow to make Shroomify more intuitive, integrating new features Camera ID, My Wishlist. I then updated the app UI and branding based on my new knowlege of the apps issues and target market.

Final product

The new Shroomify app builds on the original introducing new features such as an AI photo identification tool, region specific search filters and the ability to save your finds and create wish lists. The look and feel of the brand is now  more intentional and memorable. with this new redesign users are guaranteed to find Shroomify a more useful and enjoyable product.
