The Butcher's Wife

The Butcher's Wife is a casual plant-based restaurant and cafe located in New York. The menu design had to reflect the restaurants atmosphere, and their creative vegetarian cuisine! I also created a website and several branding peices for the restaurant. This was an assignment completed for my typography and graphic design courses.

How it all started

I was tasked to create this menu for The Butcher’s Wife, a vegetarian restaurant. The business operates as both a restaurant, where diners are probably ordering several courses, and as a cafe, where guests may just have a dessert and drink, so I decided a tabbed design would be the way to go. I wanted to use light, natural colours to mirror the mood of the restaurant

The Illustrations

I used 19th-century seed catalogs to create illustrations that parodied meat cut diagrams. This was a fun way to center the restaurant's creative vegetarian cuisine, while continuing to create an organic-feeling brand.
